Criticism On “Antilock Brakes Aren’t Just for Four Wheels”

While all this concern for new technology on motorcycles is admirable, the reall issue of safety has never been addressed and that is the rider him or herself. I can’t tell you the number of times that I have seen someone on a motorcylce or motorbike advice wearing nothing but sandles, or flip-flops and no protective clothing whatsoever. If an emergency happened and they had to set the bike down quickly, they would have no protection whatsoever from the roadway.

Now, this observation that I have just made is really not surprising. I think that in more than a few cases that bikers are risk takers to begin with, and really don’t pay too much attention to safety. They would rather ride fast, and make a lot of noise than be safe on the highway.

So, while anti-lock brakes are a great idea, and even better one would be to get the bikers to wear their helmets and their leathers and strong foot ware and actually be prepared in the event they had to dump the bike on the road!
