Close the Door

“Hey, do you live in a barn?” my father would often say. The winter in Northern Maine is cold, not just cold, but really friggin cold! You wake up in the morning and don’t want to put your feet on the floor without any wool socks – that is how cold it gets. When this happens you are more than welcoming to the fire burning in the wood stove in the kitchen, and fret that it will go out during the evening. You see the dogs lying in front of the stove and soaking up the heat, even they don’t want to go outside. Steam rises off your coffee and you can see your breath the second you go outside. It is times like these you wish you owned and electric outdoor heater to get the garage warm to go to your car.
