Running barefoot as opposed to using running shoes is becoming very fashionable and is widely considered a fad that will go away eventually. People with diabetes are particularly prone to developing problems if they go barefoot. Due to the nerve damage in diabetes, people with diabetes often have problems detecting damage, Not wearing shoes means the foot is exposed to more damage that may not be felt by the person with diabetes due to the nerve damage.
