White Sox 4, Rangers 3

Freddy Garcia pitched well in seven innings to pocket the win, Carlos Quentin hit a decisive two-run homer and the Chicago White Sox 4-3 Thursday to beat the Texas Rangers.

Alex Rios and Andruw Jones also put the ball on the other side of the fence to the White Sox, whom the Rangers managed to avoid the sweep at home.

Garcia (5-3) helped the White Sox win the World Series in 2005 but then was injured and was supposed to be the weak link in Chicago’s rotation. However, leads the team with five wins and only had two bad starts.

The right of 33 years allowed three runs _Two of them earned, seven hits and one walk.

Quentin, who had been booed after committing an error that allowed a run in Texas, atoned for his failure with his homer.

Colby Lewis (4-4) was dominant in six chapters, but only took three bad pitches in the seventh inning to spoil a 3-2 lead. After A. J. Pierzynski hit a double in the first release, Quentin hit his homer just over the right field wall for his seventh homer of the season full circle.
